Old Fashioned Cookie Mix

3 cups flour
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 cup brown sugar
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
3 cups uncooked rolled oats
1 cup shortening

Mix dry ingredients together. Cut in shortening with a pastry blender, two knives or your hands until shortening is evenly distributed. Note: mixture should resemble cornmeal. Store in the refrigerator (up to 12 weeks) until ready to use.

To make cookies:

2 cups cookie mix
1 egg
1 tbsp milk
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 cups raisins, nuts or flavored chips (optional)

Mix together all ingredients and drop by teaspoonfuls onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 for approximately 12 minutes or until light golden brown.
