Char's Shrimp Scampi

For dinner tonight I decided to jazz up an old shrimp scampi recipe by using a couple of ingredients from another recipe. It turned out great, so I thought I would share it with everyone:

2 tbsp butter or margarine
2 tbsp olive oil
2 tsp minced garlic
2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
2 tbsp lemon juice
1 tsp. sugar
1/4 cup white wine (or chicken broth)
1 lb. shrimp (peeled, cleaned)
8 oz. linguine noodles
Parmesan cheese, grated (optional)

Arrange shrimp in a casserole dish that has been sprayed with cooking spray; set aside. Cook linguine noodles according to package directions. While the noodles are cooking, blend together butter and olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat; add minced garlic and stir for approximately 1 minute. Add Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, sugar, and white wine and let gently bubble for approximately 2 minutes. Spoon butter sauce over shrimp and broil for five minutes until shrimp is pink. Drain linguini noodles and pour into a large bowl. Place shrimp on top, drizzle with some of the sauce, sprinkle with Parmesan cheese, and serve.
